Nail It This Summer!

Let's face it, the summer months are a time to take a step back, relax and have fun. Whether its celebrating a special event or just hanging out with the girls for a night, you always want to be rocking the perfect nail color.

In or attending a wedding this summer? Well then, it's traditional, neutral nail colors that will never fail you. Including creamy shades of gray, white, pale pink, soft beiges and French manicures, you will be looking classic and elegant and ready to celebrate whatever occasion!

Looking for a color that is perfect for those just for fun moments or a night out with the girls? Then try colors such as bright orange, coral, hot pink, lime, bright yellow, periwinkle or bright blue. You’ll surely be a sporting a look that screams fun and confidence.

How about on those days where you don’t have anything special planned and are just going on with your daily activities? Then, the perfect everyday colors for you are pretty pastels. This includes soft shades of yellow, pink, green, orange and purple. These colors will look perfect during your day-to-day errands but will leave you feeling ready to take on whatever the day has to offer.

“Bikini so teeny”, “jumpin’ junkanoo”, “mango bango”, and “jamacia me crazy.” Essie has always come up with crazy, yet fun names for their nail polishes that keep us constantly entertained. Have you ever wondered who is coming up with these creative names? Well, it’s none other than Essie Weingarten, the founder of Essie. This summer, the No.1 Ladies have dug deep into the world of nail polish and have come up with our very own names for our favorite summer colors.
A fun yellow-lime color was one of our absolute favorites. Naming this shade “Make Me a Margerita!,” this color will inspire anyone to have a great time and look great doing it.

Another favorite, a bold blue, reminded us of the wonderful times the summer season brings after a long New England winter. So, with this idea, we named this color “Say goodbye to winter blues…” the perfect shade to welcome summer.

Lastly, a daring coral shade we decided to name “Tropical Fiesta” was another color we absolutely loved. Inspired by memories of our favorite past vacations, lounging on the beach with ocean breezes flowing through the air, this color transported us back to these great moments and we believe will definitely help you do the same!

Sand Sea Sky is a beautiful collection of photographs taken on the beaches of Sagaponack by my dear friend and amazing photographer, Tria Giovan. Tria's lifelong love for the water and her fascination with and appreciation for all things beach comes through in this personal exploration. It is a wonderful book to own or to give to anyone who loves being near the water.

Singer & Chef...Winning Combo!

This past weekend MK Event Studio planned a party at a local New Canaan home.  The family had won in a silent auction for charity a night with Kimberly Locke (Season 2 American Idol) where she would cook for them and their friends.  Our client was unsure how to accommodate such a large group in her home…enter MK Event Studio.

We first met with our client at her home and discuss how to rearrange her home to fit a table fit for 16 and a cocktail hour.  We discussed colors and floral arrangements and then decided to take a trip to party rentals in the city to get a look for ourselves.  After working with Eileen at Party Rentals, who was lovely and so helpful, we decided on a silver palette.  The show room is so fun to go into; the options are endless!

We tapped into local talent and used Flowers & Flowers in Darien, CT for the floral arrangements.  They did a spectacular job and everyone at the party had something nice to say about them.  We used a beautiful fuchsia orchid to give the table setting some color and boy did it pop!

This event was so much fun for MK Event Studio.  It was nice to help someone on such a personal level.  The night was a complete success.  Kimberly was a wonderful chef and even better person.  She made the evening so special!

We already cannot wait to work with them again this summer after their house renovation for a house warming party!

Put Your Stamp On It!

Here at mk event studio we have been doing our research on fun and creative ways to present ourselves as a company.  Branding ourselves was of course important, and this needed to shine through when picking our business cards.  When we found this idea we fell in love!  The business card stamp!  Why buy business cards, when the minimum you can purchase is somewhere close to 500 cards?? You can stamp just as many cards as you need!  It’s fun, it’s creative, it allows you to change colors, and it looks trendy.

And you don’t have to stop there; the stamps have many other uses such as company letterhead and personalizing note cards!  Before you know it, you’ll be stamping everything!  Have fun!

Two websites we found that were great are http://www.maemaepaperie.com/ and http://modernartstamps.com/
