Cool Find
It's summer time, and who doesn't love a good outdoor food stand? Walter's Hot Dogs looks like an old Chinese take out joint, but it's actually far from it. The take out stand has fries, milkshakes and of course, hot dogs! Take it from Gourmet Magazine, who voted Walter's "America's best hot dog" in 2001. This place has been around since 1919, and is notorious in Westchester county. But wherever you live, trust us, it's worth the drive.
Loyal customers send postcards to Walter's from all over the world!

A Backyard Birthday

My friend Viv's daughter Devon turned 9 this past weekend. She hosted a lovely little backyard birthday party with friends and family. Viv has a huge backyard that's perfect for entertaining. I posted a picture of Devon's cake, a chocolate mousse creation from The SoNo Baking Company, one of our favorite finds. Devon's party was orange and pink themed, which made the chocolate cake look fabulous on the plates. Lucky me for getting an invite!

FIFA Fashion

The World Cup has taken the world by storm, and it seems like this year, Americans have gotten into the tournament more than ever before. The matches are a call for a party or a get together, and seem to be the center of most conversations. To miss a game would be a major faux pas. On Saturday afternoon the U.S's hopes of making it to the next round were shattered by the loss to Ghana in overtime, leaving many Americans disappointed. But life goes on and so does the tournament! We were in New York the other day and stumbled upon a man driving around the city in this groovy Havaianas vintage VW van! He said that he was there to promote their new FIFA flip flops, which mirror the countries' soccer uniforms. So pick your team, show some spirit, and along the way be FIFA fashion forward!

Cool Find
We discovered the new Bedford Post Inn, owned by actor Richard Gere. Located in Bedford, NY, this classic inn includes two restaurants (The Barn, for casual dining and the Farmhouse, a more formal dining room), a bakery and even a yoga studio! Perfect for a weekend getaway to relax and rejuvenate in the yoga studio, and enjoy good food & good company.

Graduation Day

Today is graduation day in New Canaan! My nephew Peter just graduated from Rye High School in Rye, New York on Saturday. I uploaded some pictures from the ceremony. It was a gorgeous day, and Peter played the drums in a "Stomp"- like performance with a bunch of his friends. It was fantastic! It got me thinking about gift ideas for graduates. So many people write checks for graduation presents, but here at MK Event Studio, we came across these great products from Vineyard Vines and Smathers & Branson. Peter is going to Boston College in the fall, so we looked at the BC collection. But you can find many other colleges and universities on both sites. Send your grad off in style!

Girls Night Out

Crumbs, one of our favorite cupcake shops, has just come out with a collection of cupcakes aimed towards a ladies night out! We loved Crumbs idea of hosting a cupcake and cocktail party with your closest girlfriends to catch up on each other's busy lives. The flavors in this collection include Margarita, Cosmo, Chocolate Praline, Raspberry Chocolate Curl, Vanilla and Oh La La (chocolate cake filled and frosted with pink tinted vanilla cream cheese frosting topped with a heart shaped brownie). Lucky for us, Crumbs is located in New Canaan, Westport, Stamford and Manhattan! So why not make every night ladies night?
